Exciting updates in the world of STEM education are coming to Monroe Elementary!

Monroe recently earned a $5,000 grant from Battelle and the Ohio Stem Learning Network. The grant, written by Monroe teacher Zachary Stock, will help students make connections between classroom instruction and hands-on learning by adding 16 raised garden beds and an outdoor coding deck to the playscape area.

"We are thrilled to receive this STEM grant, which will bring incredible opportunities for our students to engage in hands-on, innovative learning," Monroe Elementary principal Dr. Jamie Kunz said. "A huge thanks to Mr. Stock for his dedication and hard work in securing this grant for Monroe Elementary—this will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on our school community."

In addition, the grant will cover the costs associated with increasing accessability to STEM materials throughout Monroe Elementary. A total of 12 MakerZoid Coding Kits and other materials, such as LEGO and Magna Tiles, will be housed in various locations around the school.
