NREVSD Attendance

The New Richmond Exempted Village School District believes student attendance is paramount to receiving a strong education. As such, this page is designed to inform parents on NREVSD's attendance policy, state law, and ways to report a child's absence.

During the 2023-2024 school year, NREVSD had a 19 percent chronic absenteeism rate, a mark nearly double the rate of a decade prior. In an effort to help identify students needing assistance with attendance-related issues, the district will begin to implement two new programs/features beginning this week.

For starters, principals and administrators at all four of our buildings will now begin to utilize the AttendanceK12 app. This app helps streamline the process of tracking chronic absenteeism, allowing more efficient processes as we work with our students and their caregivers to ensure each child throughout the district receives the best education possible.

Additionally, in order to maximize efficiency in our attendance reporting system, parents/guardians will now be able to report absences online, without calling their child’s building.

Each building has an individualized Google Form. Parents MUST supply an email address that is included in their student’s file when reporting the absence. While the absence itself may be marked as excused after reporting through this system, please note that parents/guardians will still receive the automated attendance call from the district as a precaution.

Please see below for links to each of the building’s absence reporting forms. Each form is also linked on the respective building’s home page.

HOUSE BILL 410

In late 2016, the Ohio state legislature passed House Bill 410, a measure designed to address excessive student absences.

This bill DOES NOT differentiate between excused and unexcused absences. Per Ohio Revised Code, ANY student is considered 'excessively absent' if they have missed more than 38 hours in one month or 65 hours in a year.

NREVSD has adopted policies in accordance with this law. You may view the district's attendance policy here.

More information on HB 410 can be found here.
