Locust Corner Elementary earned a prestigious honor from the state of Ohio earlier this month, earning the state's Momentum Award for the 2022-2023 school year.

The award, presented by the Ohio Department of Education, celebrates schools and districts that have made remarkable strides in enhancing student performance and fostering academic advancement.

"It is wonderful to see the hard work of our staff and students be recognized at the state level," expressed Principal Joe Roach. "Receiving this recognition really validates our collective efforts as a school community in all of our efforts to see academic growth in every student. So much of the academic growth from our students can be directly attributed to our very targeted, data-driven approach to improving literacy and math skills."

The Momentum Award is bestowed upon schools and districts that have exhibited a notable increase in their Performance Index, with a minimum improvement of 3 points from the 2021-2022 academic year to the 2022-2023 academic year. Additionally, recipients must have received a Value-Added Progress rating of 4 stars or higher. This accolade underscores Locust Corner Elementary School’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Out of the 3,599 schools statewide, Locust Corner Elementary School emerged as one of the 310 distinguished recipients of the Momentum Award. This remarkable achievement reflects LCE's dedication to continuous improvement and its relentless pursuit of educational excellence. Notably, within Clermont County, Locust Corner Elementary School stands among an elite group of honorees, alongside six other esteemed institutions, including CNE Middle, CNE Elem, Goshen HS, Spaulding Elem, West Clermont Middle, and Willowville Elem.

"It is very much a testament to our dedicated staff and engaged students at Locust Corner Elementary," said Principal Roach. "Receiving the Momentum Award really underscores our belief that every child can succeed and thrive when the right supports and resources are in place."
